Coming of age day which honors younger people who reached as new members of society. This was established as a national holiday after second world war.
In japan, from the age of 20 ,people have the right to vote, drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes.

Local governments hold ceremonies t
Furisode that is a traditional formal kimono for unmarried women.
And every year Tokyo disney land invited more than 1200 people who will be able to take part in the ceremony at Tokyo disney land! so cool!!!!!

WOW~it looks really interesting and I believe it's really exciting for you to join your ceremony. can't wait to see photos:) I only went to Tokyo Disney for once, and it is hard to play all the fantastic facilities in a day, because the land is too grand!
ReplyDeleteRecalling my memory while traveling to Japan, wearing a special "suit" during dinner after soaking the hotspring is one of the most unforgettable memories. But I am not sure what that kind of Japanese suit called, because it is not that "shiny" like "Furisode". I only know some hotel will provide for customers after they bathe.
Last, enjoy the ceremony and goodluck for both of us on the exam:)
Merry Xmas~
It sounds cool! Japan has always been the country that I want to visit the most. I would like to join in some traditional activities one day. Being adult means we have to be responsible for ourselves. Of course we can drink, smoke or do what we want to;however, we can't do any of them too much. For me, responsibility is the most important thing I should learn when I become 20 years old. Hope everything goes well with you. Enjoy your trip and have fun! Don't forget to take photos!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You have successfully convinced your teachers to let you take the final exams earlier. It sounds like that “Coming of Age day” is a very important ceremony for Japanese who are about to become 20. It’s different from our country. Although we regard “Coming of Age day” as a big day of one’s live, we never celebrate it in this way. I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures in that day. Enjoy the ceremony!
